Miss Red Dot Starts 2006 Unlimited-Light Hydroplane Season With A Win

ISSAQUAH, Wash. (June 12, 2006) -- The U-40 Miss Red Dot won the first race of the 2006 Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association (ULHRA) season, the Tastin' and Racin' festival on Lake Sammamish in Issaquah, Wash., on June 11. It was the first-ever victory for the team and for new driver Brian Perkins.

This is the second season Red Dot has been the title sponsor of the U-40. Five of Red Dot’s key business partners have signed on as associate sponsors: Eaton Aeroquip; Oracle; Spal; Annex Marketing; and Sanden.

With their big-block piston engines and 50-foot-long rooster tails, unlimited-light hydroplanes are favorites among fans who remember the noise and spray of the "thunderboat" era of hydroplane racing.

Following its victory at Tastin' and Racin', Miss Red Dot will compete at ULHRA-sanctioned events in Valleyfield, Que., July 7-9; Detroit, July 14-16; Tri-Cities, Wash., July 28-30; Seattle, Aug. 4-6; Silverdale, Wash., Aug. 19-20; San Diego, Sept. 15-17; and Port Angeles, Wash., Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

The Miss Red Dot finished fifth in the ULHRA national points standings in 2005.
