Growing Capabilities
By 1977, Red Dot had again outgrown its facilities. After considering several options, headquarters and production were moved to the present location of 495 Andover Park East, in the expanding Tukwila Industrial Complex of South Seattle. Following the building acquisition in August 1977, necessary modifications were completed and production began in the 150,000 square foot facility in June 1978.
In 1989, Red Dot opened a warehouse in Memphis, Tenn., as a distribution center for Eastern Aftermarket customers. With the recovery of the truck industry in 1991 and the subsequent flood of orders to the heavy truck makers, Red Dot's production hit all-time highs. In 1994, plant expansion was once again necessary for Red Dot to keep pace with its success. To enhance and streamline production, the company acquired an adjacent 100,000 square foot facility next to the 495 East Andover building.
Red Dot invested heavily in this facility, creating a Technical Center for its Advanced Engineering and Test Group. Red Dot now has among the most sophisticated research and testing facilities in the industry.
