Expanding Product Innovations

Truck air conditioning units were added to the Red Dot line in the late 1960s. Red Dot was instrumental in offering some of the first integrated heater and air conditioner packages to the heavy-duty truck industry. The company has introduced many industry firsts, such as separate heater/air conditioning for the sleeper compartment, Twin Temp (sleeper unit control), and CTCTM (Constant Temperature Control), using solid state electronics technology; Grilldenser; low-profile roof-top condenser; trinary pressure switch; air switch with rotatable head; air-operated water valve; air operated vent door; patented cable-operated vent door; ProTecht A/C systems diagnostics with A/C technician software and more.

The momentum of these innovations carried Red Dot into the next decade, despite the ravages of landslides and fire to company facilities and economic recessions. Expanding its sales base, the company established an Aftermarket Division in the mid-1970s to market heavy-duty, add-on air conditioning and heating units through a network of independent distributors.
